Terrassian Group Shot!

The very first ever!
Is it bad? Yes! Is it sketchy? Yes! Is it largely inaccurate? Yes!
Is it the only time they've all been drawn together! Yes!
Dunno, it started with Raidon and Rena and then just escalated; I wanted to fill up the page.

From left to right (since the text above their heads is kind of small):
Tori
Rena
Ryu
Amber (on his head)
Raidon
Saku (pregnant with quadruplets o.O)
Nakaira
Kano (above) - And the worst drawn of them all, tied with Aiako
Aiako
Kaji and his unnamed dragon.

(Even though Kaji cut his hair like, two years ago. Oh well. I liked it long.)

Gaby and team

Been Poké-crazy lately. So here's Gaby and her Pokemon.
Silversong (Lugia) - Top left
Sapphire (Charizard) - Bottom left
Dragonsong (Dragonite) - Top middle
Trouble (Pidgeot) - Next to Dragonsong
Slicksilver (Skarmory) - Bottom middle
Affection (Meganium) - Top right
Gaby (Lugia Pokémorph) - Bottom right

This is from my ongoing, exceptionally long, very old, and partially bad Pokémon story, Rogue Genetics, which can be found on Fanfic ((*shudder*)) if you're bored.

The Great Chain - Sketch

Well...Here it is. After two days of work, I have a preliminary sketch of every character (pretty much) in the Terrassian story, minus Kali, Jett, Sypher, and some minor characters like Aioru's grandpa, etc. =D So keep in mind that this is just a sketch and not the final thing. It may or may not be chibi by the end of this.
Thanks to http://yuuyami-artist.deviantart.com/ for rough bases from her own Chibi chains (yeah, I'm not awesome enough to do it all myself).
Unfortunately, Blogspot and photobucket do not support a picture of this size, so you will have to click the link to DeviantArt in order to see it:

Abby Carrington

The first:

and second :

versions of a picture I've been working on for a few days between homework and school. This is my Technopath character, the 3rd evolution/varation of Abigail Carrington. She was designed for an RP called The Vast Conflict, centering around...well. It hasn't started yet, but something about heroes (and this singular heroine) saving the world from a second wave of the Daemonspawn, a terrifying transdimentional force of monsterous beasts out to get "Earth". The world is original, just Earth-like.

Very excited for this to start. And I'm quite pleased in with the picture. One of the other members, pen named Zero, outlined her for me (hence the two version). Drawn with a billion bases and reference pictures.
And yes, she's almost identical to Gale from the Modern RP...Except she got her legs crushed when she was 7 and now has cool mechanical legs she built herself.
PS: Technokinesis is the ability to control mechanical and electric objects.

New Style: Tori

Remember her?

I tried a new style out in English class. I kinda like it.

New Sketch Book!

I got a nice new sketchbook that got tall, blank pages, and is very small and portable. I've been experimenting with different styles in it. Here's the first page:

I zoomed and quickly colored a face shot.
It's me!

The Quest for Better Hair

....See, Radio....

...I really tried.

(This is several days of me trying to give Joe a better hair style that I can actually draw, since the spikiness doesn't work for me.)

The 4th World

On the back of my World Issues note about the classification of development for countries, I drew my own little fantasy world. Here are two continents, Harenstos and Galavane, both belonging to the 4th quarter, or 4th World.
Edit: Whoops. Forgot to get rid of the extra box between Samdar and Landir. Ignore.

Some Creatures

Random sketches from World Issues of an Amphithere, one my favorite types of dragons, and a cat creature I shall name Clarence.

After a break...How to Train Your Dragon!

So I know I've not posted in eons. I've been extremely busy this past month, and will be so again for all of May, but I have some art and writing to post, so I figured I should do so in the little spare time I have.

For those curious, this week I had an AP (Advanced Placement, for University) exam and traumatic surgery for my eyelid, which was not fun at all. Well, the AP test was fine. More the surgery but, but the proceedure went fine and I think it's healing well.

I saw How to Train Your Dragon on opening weekend way back, and was so moved by it, I grabbed a piece of paper as soon as I got home and drew the main dragon character, Toothless. It was from memory, so it's not perfect, but I think it's pretty cute.

...His body continues, but that's as far as my memory went, and then I think I had to leave my house for some reason. Anyway, the movie was one of the best I've seen in a long time, so if you haven't seen it
The main character's name is Hiccup. If that didn't make you want to go, you have no soul.

Xiren as a child

Started with some possible sketches of his Black, Maryam (I like mounts having names that start with 'M' for some reason...), then I tried to draw him running without a reference. Pretty fail, but I think I captured his happy go lucky and his crazy wild hair. First portrait of a dragon in flight without reference...not too bad.

Xiren was a Dragonrider with no mother (died) and an extremely difficult father. He was a Dragonlord, and therefore had extremely high expectations of his happy-go-lucky son, who was kept isolated to cut off his cheerful streak and make him into a serious man. When he got his Black (a traditionally unlucky color) from a hatching, his father was disappointed in both his mount and his ecstatic attitude about getting her.

He grew up in the mountains then and made lots of friends, where his father couldn't limit his growth, but he was always close by, harassing him, physically abusing him, etc. Having no other parental figure to turn to, and the only model of adulthood being one of violence, his mind began to break and he began to have violent thoughts. These in turn twisted the mind of his dragon, and they spiralled downward together until, one stormy day after a particularly brutal display of abuse from his father and the assurances that he would both never make Dragonlord and was to be immediately transferred to the far reaches of the world, away from those he loved...

He killed his father and his aides. All of them, innocent or no. And he felt nothing.

He flew away on Maryam and went further crazy with guilt and the fact that he sometimes felt nothing but numbness. He started thirsting for power, resenting the other riders for branding him as a murderer so unjustly. He killed anyone who tried to take him, he took what he wanted. He had a bastard son by an elf, who she kept and named Karimo. He one day grew up and put an end to the killings of the father: the first and last time he met him, they were both on their Black mounts, weapons in hand, and Karimo left with blood on his hands and a sense of ease in his conscience.

And all this, from the smiling, happy youth who just wanted to play with his dragon.

My Takeshi. Sorry for the lack of posts, crazy homework. These are actually from last week.

Rain at a Funeral

Audio Recording

Note: I'm not nearly as confident with my Texan accent as I am with my British, so there's a couple parts here where it slips. Forgive me.

This one's about Rick, at Mellissa (his girlfriend) and her family's funeral. A little sadder, even though I've had a great, happy day today.

Rain at a Funeral

Fuckin’ rain.

It shouldn’t even be allowed. My whole life’s just turned into a pathetic fallacy. In multiple senses of the phrase.

It also shouldn’t be allowed to rain at funerals. So movie-typical bull, people in black with their black umbrellas and their sad looks, the rain streaking their cheeks and masking their tears. Except their eyes, their red eyes, they give it away. Rain doesn’t have anything like salt in it to sting like that.

Everyone’s got black umbrella too, except me. Mine’s purple, go figure, the only one I could find in the house. So here I am, sixteen, bawling my eyes out with my purple umbrella in a sea of black suits and ties and veils, wearing my last year’s costume for our school’s musical: a navy blue suit modeled after the ones they had in the 1960’s, since that’s the only one I got.

Dammit. She was in that musical, too.

They’re burying an empty casket. Cas…Caskets. Her and her brother. The bodies weren’t found. Some part of me wants to desperately hope that they weren’t there, but James never left the house, and Mellissa’s been seen nowhere since. They probably burnt past recognition and got mistaken for a piece of furniture…

God, look at the rain, look at the suit and tie people, anything but the mind’s eye image of their blackened, burnt bodies lying on the living room floor.

D-Dorian’s here? I probably wouldn’t have noticed him if I hadn’t been so intent on looking at my ... Dorian? Really? I guess they were acquaintances…I shouldn’t trash him now. I mean, it’s a funeral.

Is he looking at me? He looks…He doesn’t look like anything. But he’s here, so that’s got to say something.

The woman to my right sobbing. It’s her English teacher. I have her for English next semester…She’s good, Melissa said she likes opinionated students who aren’t afraid to speak their minds. Just like me…

Melissa…What happened? How could this…happen?

Shit, Dorian’s still looking at me, isn’t he? I bet he knows it’s not just rain on my face. There’s red in my eyes too, after all.

Fuckin’ rain.

Order Interrogation

ALRIGHT. I've been having a drawing slum. Everything I've been drawing recently has been pretty bad. So, I'm switching this from a sketch blog to a creativity dump, and now any and all things creative can be put here, not just pictures.

Thus, crappy daily short stories will now probably become the norm.

To kick us off, here's a snippet from what would be the third installment of Kano's Tale, after he'd been captured by the Order, an infamous group of Earth humans trying to take over and eliminate the magical parallel world of Genesi, from which Kano comes.

Edit: As requested, here is a of me reading this aloud, with some mistakes and microphone bumps and my watch going off with its beeping.
Edit Edit: Giving me hell tonight, I'll try it again tommorow.
Edit Edit Edit: I give up. I'm just linking you to this site, and if anybody knows how to put a little tiny mp3 player into a webpage like this, please let me know. I've tried like 8 and I can't get any of them working.

- - -

“Do you have a last name, sir?”

I answer with a head shake. The handcuffs are cutting into my wrists. The little green light on them is getting very annoying.

“Right. Just Kano, then?”

Why bother with a verbal response? I’m past being a gentlemen. I haven’t been allowed to sit or sleep for what feels like days. The little water I’ve had has been through a straw. No food, either.
They intend to starve me out. Trick’s on them, it won’t work.

“Alright Mister Kano, would you mind answering a few simple questions for me?”

Too tired to respond, even to look up. My neck’s chaffed from the metal collar clamped around it, chained medieval style to the wall. Ankles are chained together, too. Completely naked, but really, when you’re starving to death slowly, you don’t give too much of a shit who sees what parts of you. Apparently it’s psychological torture, being stripped naked, but obviously humans from this world have never been to Gra’tya; clothes are like a sin there. Funny, that I can think about a place as warm, sunny, and friendly as that in this damp shithole I’m strung up in.

“Right. So you are a citizen of Genesi?”

It’s a struggle to make eye contact. It’s a man, that I already knew from the voice. Stands about six foot from what I can tell, the average of the Earthians nowadays. Looks like he’s from the Orient, small black eyes, black hair…but that tall? Unusual. Must be half something else. Too dark to tell in this light. Too tired, too.

“Mister Kano? Are you having difficulty speaking?”

I stare at him. Some part of my mind tells me that if I cooperate my suffering will end, but the military trained part of me, and the part of me that hates this man for what he is without even knowing his name or being able to see him properly, would never let me give in to such a weakness.

He steps closer, tilts my chin roughly from side to side, and gives me a good slap. My head swivels easily, the sting in my cheek a welcome distraction from my aching stomach.

“Mister Kano, I recommend you start cooperating, since I have special leave to break from protocol. You are a most…special case,” he says, pausing, turning my head to face his. He’s greasy, I can see now, oily skin, deep, black, slanted eyes, hair that looks and smells like it hasn’t been washed in a week, thin, glistening lips that curl into a sadistic smile at the prospect of causing his captive pain.

“Master always said I was special,” I say. I meant to sound sarcastic, confident, but to my dismay my voice trails barely past a whisper. My throat is dry; it hurts to make any noise. The creep in front of me just grins more, showing yellow, spotted teeth. He breaths on me, and I think I’d rather face a swamp drake with rotting flesh between its mandibles.

“Until we killed her, that is,” he says, eyes watching closely to see my reaction. I’m satisfied to see him frown. I’m not giving him anything.

“Fine. Since verbal abuse and nonphysical humiliation tactics are proving futile on you, we’ll move to other extremes,” he says, walking around to the other side of the room. He picks up a whip, and I use the little energy I have to roll my eyes at him.

“Really?” I say, a little stronger, and try to bark a laugh. I manage a weak chuckle. “You think after being a Nyataran War captive that a whip’s going to do anything?”

He falters, looks at his whip, then cracks it. It bursts into blue flame.

“Their whips turned white. Is blue the best you can do?” I goad. He seethes and cracks it again, the flames turning a cooler red instead of hotter white. He whips it again, making a strange feral cry in the back of his throat in frustration.

Really, if half baked, hygienically challenged elemental rejects like this guy are the best the Order can throw at me…I’ll be out in a day or two. Tops.

Shit, that whip really does hurt, though, no way around that…

Dragon Sketches and Kietaro Faces

Couldn't draw people today. So I drew dragons!

Just started with some circles for the face and snout and tried to see how well I could do freehanding different angles. With the exception of the 4th one, I don't think it's too bad, considering I've never tried before...

Just filled up the page. And Ointment was a word that made Steph giggle today, so that's his name.

And these started out as Flametail, but just didn't look like him at all...More Kietaro-ish, though he's hard to pin because he shape-shifts. Doesn't look like any of my other males, though...

((I think it's cause Flametail has a much longer snout. Ah, yes, upon locating my only existing picture of Flametail, he has much larger horns and a more pointed face.
I may try him properly next.))

Sanzo x Hakkai - Request Art

Well, yeah, it's not my best work, but I'd like to think it's pretty damn good for not using a base.

More Shonen-Ai (boy-boy). Sorry to my non fangirl watchers; my next request art is two boys as well, but since they're Digimon characters I don't think I can, in good concious, make them do anything obscene.

This pair is from one of my absolute favorite mangas and shows, Saiyki and Saiyuki Reload. Binge read about 8 volumes of the latter today. The one on the left is Cho Hakkai, the one on the right is Genjo Sanzo.

And if you're het and wondering, don't worry: The manga is epic and action-y with demons, and is probably one of the funniest things I've ever read...with no actual gay people. So read it/watch it.

Request was for Edit.

Ps: here's the original sketch:

Kano (1st Half)

Drew a picture today, but not going to get it all colored in one night. So, here's the first half, the part that includes Kano. But who's on the other end of that chain, and who's chain is he holding?
Sketched on paper, colored on SAI.
(Background's just a placeholder hopefully).
There are also lots of coloring mistakes in this (the line art in his belt being on a lower level, for instance), but as I said, first draft.

Sketch Doodles 3

Well, it may not be the third, but that's what the file's called.
Random sketches of:
A seahorse thing
My parrot stuffed animal turned into Nakaira's pet hawk (which looks more like a cockatiel with antenna at this point more than anything)
A creepy fuzzily-outlined eye
A face structure for a horse or dragon
A creepy bunny
A normal diglet (drawn by Stephanie)
A fucked up diglet (drawn by yours truly)
A neat looking dragon with fin/spines, horns, and a kangaroo-inspired body
And a punk chick with all sorts of stuff. Really liking her design, may attach it to a character...

Hey, at least I'm posting.

Charlie and Bandit

Have some sketches.
This is a concept drawing of Charlie. Charlie is one of Ryu's currently in-creation children, a Grey dragonling-pinan-etc hybrid who likes to get messy and paint (hence the "rainbow").

And my attempt at Bandit, who's a pretty cool dad, works for the Elemental guys and likes video games.

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

Posting because, well, I haven't posted in a while. However, not feeling too confident about this, since the responses I've had are either encouraging with friendly critique (good) or asking if she's holding a fuzzy orange snake (bad).

It's SUPPOSED to be my first real attempt at Kaji (who is MALE), holding a BOW and arrow which I decided should be made of fire.

But apparently my self challenge didn't go so well, nor can I effectively put what's in my head on paper. Here it is anyway.
Sketched on paper, colored on Sai for the first time. Too disheartened about it to give it a real go, though.

Fanart: Integra x Seras

Because Radio made me do it.

Actually, quite pleased with how it turned out, despite the serious sketchiness.

Drawing: 45 minutes
Coloring: 30 minutes.

It's official!

NerdTests.com says I'm an Uber Cool Nerd God. Click here to take the Nerd Test, get geeky images and jokes, and write on the nerd forum!
I'm a super nerd!

I saw it on Radio's blog, decided to do it. Results are pretty rofly expected.

Did not expect to score so low in the Awkward category or so high in the Science/Math. Probably because I lol'd at "What is the heaviest element a star can produce before going Supernova?"'s Multiple choice of Fire (Fi) as an element...

/nerd.

Fun quiz though.

Seth's Dream

So Joey humored me and wrote me more slash Fan-FanFiction for RG. And because I was so pleased, I drew him a picture for it.

YES! NOT FAIL YAOI!
I will go back and fix the coloring/shading/highlights/etc later. I just finished this after 4 hours of work (1 hour drawing, 3 hours color) and am too exhausted to deal with any more.

Here's the original:
Based off this, though with a fair amount of mods.

Victorian Kano (Colored)

After several hours of work (and bothering poor Radio):

Learned how to do so much in such a short period of time!

Cheerio!

Well, feeling inspired, I decided to draw good 'ol Kano in traditional Victorian wear. In the process of coloring it as well.

Pose and outfit completely stolen from Sandied of DeviantArt. She said I could, though, so it's okay.

Vote for Voltaire!

Another Philosophy assignment! This time it was to make a comic book of a philosopher of our choice campaigning to become Supreme Ruler of the World, while following their political ideals and teachings. The lovely Stephanie and I were partners on htis, and she and our equally lovely and very talented friend Samantha drew the pictures, while I digitized and colored them.

So here you are; names have been blurred for internet anonymity. And sorry Sammy, but I don't want our teacher thinking you our homework for us!

Violet and Orange

...Well. Really, it should be Green and Red in this case, but that would be too christmassy.
Tea drew this (obviously, it's good, so it couldn't have been me), and I colored it. Drad's not nearly that dark in reality, he's just supposed to be representing some devious mental shadow.

Horrible Doodles...Not again!

Embarrassing to post this. But have some laughs.
I
was asked to draw a Balrog, seen above. Credit whatever the hell this site is for that epic picture.

This is what I did from memory, being stupid and lazy.

Yeah. Lol.

The rest of it: A quepie, some kind of lizard thing with fins, a chick that looks like a very short cross between Gail and Ryu, a chibi with a lolita top hat spazzing at her ankles, an upside-down chibi, Ryu and Drad doing something questionable (that Ryu doesn't seem to want to do back), with me lawling beneath.

We seriously need to do things in class.

Spike

I wanted to experiment with a very winding body. Then I wanted to see if I could mentally project where it's stomach would be throughout the twists and turns, and therefore where it's back would be.

The spikes were just out of boredom.

Coat of Arms Mania

I've been going a little bit crazy in designing Coats of Arms for my characters (well, the nobility or Pseudo-nobility at least), and I've begun with my Riders (and a couple dragonspawn themselves).
Firstly, to start at the top of the family tree (or would it be the bottom, the roots? Whatever), we have Xiren Vior, despicable, evil, usurping ex-Rider of Zaraine the Black. One of the few 1-sidedly evil characters I have, though still with an interesting backstory. I wanted a Coat that showed his evilness and taste for weapons, but still subtly tied in with his important Vior bloodline (relating to a certain magical energy in the form of a sword).

< --This is the progression, and it turned into something I really liked.

Next we have his son, Karimo. He wanted to be disassociated with his father, but wanted to portray his pride for his beautiful black mount, Trianna. Again, I wanted to tie in the Vior sword, but also wanted to show Karimo's eternal debt and relation to Tsumi the Keeper. So... ->
I really enjoy the end result. The sword is yielded, and the dragon's submissive posture represents both Rider's and Dragon's debt to Tsumi. It directly honors his beloved Black, while still showing his protection of the sword. My first attempt, dragonfire licking his three weapons of choice, was alright, but more violent a look than I was going for.

Travelling up or down the tree is Karimo's son, Ryu. Now, he would normally adopt his mother's Coat, but since there were unfortunate circumstances, he had to make his own. I haven't picked one yet, though I like the more earthy feel to these ones (and the feather association with Tori), but I need to keep that Vior sword in there somewhere.

Finally, I did the one they're all sort of centered around, which is the Varmier Coat-of-Arms (Tsumi/Julesque). This turned out REALLY well in theory and sort of well on the paper, but the scan didn't do it justice at all. I'll probably redo this one very soon.

Essentially, hers is a shield (symbolising her status as the Protector), but made into the shape of a dragon head wreathed in flame. It's quartered as well: The top left is a demon, the top right is a golden dragon, the bottom left is a crecent moon and the bottom right is a sun.
